Tahiti is the largest island in the beautiful archipelago of French Polynesia in the South Pacific Ocean. Outside the main towns lie vast areas of untouched terrain, which are best explored on a 4WD tour, and turquoise waters with vividly coloured coral reef and tropical fish to be found beneath the surface. Tahiti’s main port is in the capital, where you can sail across to the neighbouring island of Moorea, another popular holiday spot in French Polynesia.

About Moorea

Moorea is a French Polynesian island, found just north east of Tahiti, across the ‘Sea of the Moon’ in the South Pacific Ocean. Shaped like a pair of angel wings, Moorea truly feels like heaven on earth. Daydream-worthy beaches, turquoise waters and emerald mountains make up the landscape, leading most to argue it’s the most beautiful island in the world. Ideal for honeymoons and romantic getaways, it also offers fun activities like kayaking, horseback riding and kitesurfing, if you’re after some adrenaline-fueled fun. The sandy shoreline is fringed by bright blue lagoons, making it a haven for snorkelers, with the ‘Lagoonarium’, a protected area of the water, hosting some of the Pacific’s most vividly coloured coral and tropical fish. Given its proximity to Tahiti, a mere twenty kilometres, there are multiple ferry crossings every day from the town of Papeete to Vaiare on Moorea’s east coast, with an average journey time of just half an hour.
