Ozamiz City Guide

Ozamiz City Ferry Port

Ozamiz City is situated in the province of Misamis Occidental, belonging to the Philippines. Ozamiz City Port is primarily used to connect passengers to more popular and widely recognised areas of the Philippines, such as Cebu City and Iloilo City.

What is there to do in Ozamiz City?

Ozamiz City is one of the lesser known areas belonging to the Philippines, but the ideal location and tranquil atmosphere, especially surrounding the port, make it an increasingly desired travel destination. The city is decorated in beautiful greenery and alluring parks; Mount Malindang Natural Park is a particular highlight, offering challenging walking trails and breathtaking views that are worth the trip alone to Ozamiz. Alternatively, Naomi Botanical Gardens and Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park both offer a pleasant setting to while away a few hours. The array of parks and mountainside may paint Ozamiz City as a place that’s only suited for hiking, but plenty of history and culture is dotted around the city centre. Cotta Fort is typically top of the itinerary for most tourists, and to witness the unique architecture synonymous with the city then a walk around the centre showcases the variety of interesting buildings.

How do visitors get around Ozamiz City?

The main form of transport around the city are jeepneys, a shared taxi similar to a pick-up truck, that provide very cheap services. Alternatively there are buses, but they tend to be unreliable and can oftentimes be confusing for new visitors, or for convenient and quick journeys there are pedicabs readily available.

Iligan City Guide

Iligan City Ferry Port

Iligan City Port is found on the northern coast of the island of Mindinao, the southernmost of the many islands which comprise the Philippines. Due to its tropical location, the area rarely experiences cold weather, making it a desirable holiday destination for tourists. However, Iligan still remains somewhat of a hidden gem in the Philippines with visitors tending to head towards more prominent regions such as Manila and Cebu. The lack of westernization from European tourists has maintained Iligan Port’s authentic feel, yet it still welcomes tourists from all countries. Transport to and from the ferry terminal is somewhat lacking; there is a general absence of public transport such as buses and trains, therefore it is advisable to book a taxi or try the local custom. Tartanillas (horse drawn carriages) and sikads (personalised mopeds) are readily available and can be seen all over the city, however, sikads are known to be sometimes dangerous and unreliable. Two companies are relied upon to supply ferry routes from Iligan City Port; Carlos A. Gothang Lines and Cokaliong Shipping Lines provide the crossing to Cebu as the most popular service. There are also crossings to Cagayan De Oro, Dumaguete and Legaspi, each running a few times per week. The times of the crossings vary from season to season, so it is worthwhile checking for live updates to guarantee a pleasant journey.
