Penneshaw Guide

Penneshaw Ferry Port

Penzance is perhaps most well-known for being the biggest town in Western Cornwall, a county that lies right on the south west coast of Great Britain. The only ferry route is to St Mary’s, a crossing that is supplied by Isles of Sicily Travel.

What is there to do in Penzance?

Holding onto the authentic romance synonymous with Cornwall, Penzance doesn’t hold the glorious beaches or polished aesthetics of other port areas, yet you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more enjoyable place than the seafront’s refreshingly simplistic promenade. Whilst the entirety of Cornwall may exemplify a laid-back surfing town, Penzance’s unusual image is what makes it standout; Victorian style promenades, ancient buildings and the Egyptian House exude a culturally historic vibe, however, the abundance of palm trees and tropical foliage typifies a Mediterranean holiday destination. Penzance, quite simply, is a town like no other. In a town like Penzance it is tempting to spend the entire time embracing the beautiful great outdoors, yet there is plenty of things to do: Penzance’s Savoy Cinema is believed to be England’s longest running cinema, showing independent films that are unlikely to be shown in mainstream media. The Penlee House Museum offers an insight into Cornwall’s history of arts, and to witness contemporary, modern art, head to the trendy Exchange Gallery. After a day of sightseeing and walking, there is no better way to spend an evening than in one of the top-drawer restaurants, or for a truly traditional Penzance experience, sample some of the famous fish and chips whilst looking out over the sea.

How do visitors get around Penzance?

Due to the beautiful surroundings, many choose to wander around Penzance. For those who don’t fancy an arduous walk, there are taxis available at affordable prices.
