Syltfähre
Syltfähre regularly links the islands of Sylt and Romo, in Germany and Denmark respectively, just off the west coast of the Danish Jutland Peninsula in the North Sea.
The short crossing from Havneby on the southern tip of Romo to List, the northernmost municipality in Germany, close to the Danish border, affords some fine views. The best of which can be enjoyed from the outdoor decks or from the panoramic windows on-board the SyltExpress, with the stunning North Frisian Islands on the horizon. The contemporary, double-ended ferry provides the fastest and most convenient way of reaching Sylt from Denmark, and, sailing all year round, it holds eighty cars and just under six hundred passengers, with a cruising speed of sixteen knots.
The vessel itself offers plenty as well, with an on-board shop selling excellent value perfumes, jewellery and travel accessories. A broad selection of gastronomic delights, including a mix of classic Danish dishes and German cuisine, is served in the café, whilst the air-conditioned, smoke-free lounge area is perfect for families.
